That is very low mileage and beside tire pressure I would check to insure the tire is going down the road straight. Also look at the amount of wrist twisting you do. My 96 went about 7k miles before I ran over something in parking lot and opened up the tread face. I had already purchased new tires so had it ready to install. Went with the load range c 140/90, it rubs slightly on the saddle bag stand off brackets, but other wise appears to last lots longer than the OEM tire. Is a Metzler ME80 series tire. Much fun to mount as the sidewall is really stiff compared to the orignal. I always spring for a new tube as they are cheap insurance. Also if you have one around the chance of pinching the tube during installation is less, than if all the stores are miles away or closed. Also be sure to have the new tire balanced. Max
